In order to gain the full value of Virtual Design & Construction, the BIM Workflow must be implemented. Doing so allows for the information that is at the heart of the Building Information Models to be shared for use by other project stakeholders, minimizing the need for redundant efforts.
As design, construction, and operations progress, the Level of Development (LOD) of the model progresses in parallel. As a result, the information contained within the model becomes richer. When setup properly, the information contained within the models can be quickly and easily shared for analysis and manipulation in other software packages and databases, making much greater use of the information.
